Installation Problems

Problem

When I try to install, I get an error message saying, "You cannot replace the system extension 'Window Tamer Extension' because it is in use."

Remedy

Open the System Folder on your startup disk, then locate and open the Extensions Folder. Find the item named Window Tamer Extension and drag it to the trash. You will not be able to empty the trash until you have restarted your computer. Now locate the new version of Window Tamer Extension in the Install Pieces folder of your Window Tamer distribution folder and copy it into your Extensions Folder.

Problem

I'm running Mac OS 8.1 and Window Tamer does not show up when I open the contextual menu.

Remedy

Unless you have installed OpenDoc, the Mac OS 8.1 installer does not install a library needed for Contextual Menu plugins. Locate the file SOMobjects™ for Mac OS in the folder Install Pieces of your Window Tamer distribution folder and drag and drop it onto the closed System Folder of your startup disk. Once the file is copied, you will need to restart for the changes to take effect.
